The Gettysburg Area Gamers group has been gaming together for approximately 15 years. We are a group of people who were brought together by our interest in history. Many of our members are tour guides, re-enactors or historians. Many of us travel together to the Historicon, Cold Wars and Fall in conventions, and some of us also run games during the convention.
We play mostly beer and pretzel rule systems in order to keep the game fun and insure an outcome in 3-4 hours. The following time periods are what we predominately play: Boxer Rebellion, Zulu War, American Civil War, Ironclads, Vietnam, WWII all fronts, Napoleonics and Revolutionary War. We do not engage in Medieval, Roman or Ancients.
Our meetings are held every Thursday night at 6:00 pm in Gettysburg at the home of Bill Molyneaux. every third Thursday of the month, a game schedule is agreed upon by those members who are present. We also schedule family get togethers throughout the year to promote our camaraderie (and make our wives happy).

Newsletter Volume2 Number 13 Arnhem| April 6, 2011 | Full Article
The Battle of Arnhem was fought in and around the Dutch towns of Arnhem, Oosterbeek, Wolfheze, Driel and the surrounding countryside from the 17–26 September 1944, part of the larger Operation Market Garden operation.
The Allies dropped paratroopers in the Netherlands to secure key bridges and towns along the Allied axis of advance. Farthest north the British 1st Airborne Division, commanded by Major General Robert "Roy" Elliott Urquhart, CB, DSO (1901-1988, at right), supported by men of the Glider Pilot Regiment and the Polish 1st Independent Parachute Brigade, landed at Arnhem to secure bridges across the Nederrijn. Initially expecting a walkover, British XXX Corps planned to reach the British airborne forces within two to three days. (In our last game, they did not advance past Valkenswaard).

Supporting Information: One Two
Operation Market Garden (17–25 September 1944) was an Allied military operation, the largest airborne operation up to that time. The operation plan's strategic context required the seizure of bridges across the Maas (Meuse River) and two arms of the Rhine (the Waal and the Lower Rhine) as well as several smaller canals and tributaries. Crossing the Lower Rhine would allow the Allies to outflank the Siegfried Line and encircle the Ruhr, Germany's industrial heartland. It made large-scale use of airborne forces, whose tactical objectives were to secure a series of bridges over the main rivers of the German-occupied Netherlands and allow a rapid advance by armored units into Northern Germany. German forces in the area of Valkensvaard were II Panzer Corps commanded by SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Waffen-SS Wilhelm Bittrich (1894 –1979, at left) and the 1st Paratroop Army in charge of Generaloberst Kurt Student (1890–1978, right).
